Frequently Asked Questions

What is NowTo Address?
NowTo Address is a free tool for translating Taiwan addresses into English and looking up zip codes. We use the official Chunghwa Post County/Township and Road/Street Chinese-English Reference Files (over 30,000 road names) to convert Chinese addresses to postal-standard English, and to provide both 3-digit and 3+3 zip code lookups.
Is address translation and zip code lookup free?
Yes, everything on this site is completely free and requires no registration. Address translation runs in your browser, and we do not store your input addresses or translation results.
Can I use the translation results for official documents or international mail?
Yes. Our translations follow the official Chunghwa Post standard and are suitable for international mail, online shopping delivery addresses, business cards, and résumés. For formal government documents (such as company registration or passport applications), we recommend double-checking against the Chunghwa Post official address translation tool.
What does the 3+3 zip code mean in Taiwan?
The 3+3 zip code is a 6-digit postal code introduced by Chunghwa Post in 2020. The first 3 digits identify the district or township, and the last 3 digits locate the specific road and house number range. Legacy 3-digit and 3+2-digit codes are still accepted and do not affect delivery.
How do I write a Taiwan address in English? Is the order the same as Chinese?
English addresses are written in the reverse order of Chinese: from smallest to largest — house number → lane → street → district → city → country. For example, "台北市中正區忠孝東路一段 1 號" becomes "No. 1, Sec. 1, Zhongxiao E. Rd., Zhongzheng Dist., Taipei City 100, Taiwan (R.O.C.)". For international mail, add "TAIWAN (R.O.C.)" as the last line.
